Working for Walton

Welcome to Working for Walton C.I.C.

What we do

We are a Community Interest Company based in Walton, Wakefield who are very proud to work hard together to deliver fantastic events for the residents of our village.

We formed in 2016 with the initial aim to purchase a village Christmas tree. Mighty Oaks from little acorns do grow and we now have a full annual calendar of events including a vintage car show, scarecrow festival and full Christmas lights switch on event.

We’re always looking for volunteers and are a friendly bunch! If you want to help out or have any questions – just drop us an email.

What we have achieved so far

We have delivered many fantastic events which have been enjoyed by hundreds of our residents and the local community. We have also managed to fundraise through these events and have purchased three life saving AEDs which are located at Walton Village Hall, Walton Sports and Social Club, and Walton Library & Community Hub.

We are also immensely proud to have been able to organise and finance a Pit Wheel Memorial located at Walton Colliery Nature Park. In 2022, we provided a Bench near to the Pit Wheel in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Locally our events have also helped to financially supported the following organisations: Wakefield Hospice; Yorkshire Air Ambulance; Walton Community Library; Friends of Waterton’s Wall; Walton Primary Academy – Parents & Teachers Association (PTA); 27th Wakefield Girl Guides, 27th Wakefield Rainbows & 36th Wakefield Brownies; Walton Horticultural Society Allotments.
